Yeah! What I found to fix this problem is, as you go dip your finger in water and smooth it out it should help with the cracks and make it look smoother you have to watch it though because since it is more elastic than clay it will move when you arent paying attention.

if its not going to be use for much besides a photo prop you should be just fine with clay be BE CAREFUL! :3
